Abstract  In this paper, we expound the extension and the new meaning of the role of the architect in the market economy. Secondly, with the illustration of the two programs of the residential district, we analyze the spatial environment of the urban residential district. Furthermore, the importance and the inevitability of the construction of the ecological architectural environment and the endeavor to make the optimization relations between the ecological architectural environment and the nature are discussed.
